THE HAIR ROLL

by the middle of summer we're all suffering from ponytail fatigue. So we give props to Demi Lovato for coming up with a fresh way to keep her hair off of her face. Her pinup-inspired front bun is certainly eye-catching, but doesn't it also sort of remind you of a puff pastry you'd find in a bakery?

HOT PINK LIPS

Unlike a nude pout, lips the color of Barbie's dream house are high maintenance and pack a major punch. As long as you do as Selena Gomez does and stick with a shade that's in the fuchsia family and avoid frosted finishes, you'll look girlie, but not silly.

OVER-THE-TOP OMBRE

We're forever indebted to whomever made grown-out highlights a thing (what a money-saver). But since ombré came onto the hair scene, some celebs (cough, Emily Blunt) have been taking major liberties with the look. A gradual root-to-tips fade looks natural. But dramatically lighter tips? Not so much.

LIP LINER

Yes, this is really happening. Lately, lip liner has made a quiet comeback with lots of ladies rediscovering the power of a nude pencil (it adds definition in a subtle way). Maria Menounos, however, pairs her peachy gloss with a much darker mocha liner.

THE POOF

Snooki's got nothing on Lana del Rey, who pushes the envelope with a sky-scraping smooth waterfall mane. Either she used an entire bottle of hair spray, she ordered the Bumpit off an infomercial or she's got a soda can hidden under that bump.
